Welcome to the Sonnenhof, a place where hospitality and warmth have taken centre stage for generations. Our history is characterised by tradition, hospitality and a deep connection to nature. We, the Gasser family, are now the second generation to run the Sonnenhof with the same passion and dedication as our parents Paula and Andreas Gasser. The Sonnenhof is more than just accommodation – it is a place where our guests should experience the feeling of home and security. We are proud to carry on this legacy and to welcome our guests in the midst of the beautiful nature of South Tyrol.
Our family
The Sonnenhof has been in family hands for generations. The Gasser family runs the hotel with a passion that is reflected in every detail. The family atmosphere is at the heart of the Sonnenhof, and our guests feel this warmth and care from the very first moment. Each generation of the Gassers has contributed to making the Sonnenhof what it is today: a place where guests feel welcome and at ease.
Our history
The history of the Sonnenhof began in 1972, when our parents Paula and Andreas Gasser built the house (first generation). In the early years it was a place to rent out, but Paula and Andreas soon realised their passion for hospitality and the unique location of the Sonnenhof. So in 1982, the Sonnenhof was converted into a youth guesthouse and school hostel – a place that offered young people and groups a space for community and adventure.
The Sonnenhof grew steadily in the years that followed: the first swimming pool was built in 1985, all rooms were equipped with their own bathrooms in 1987, and in 1996 we extended the grounds to include a 3,150 m2 sports field, offering plenty of space for sporting activities and recreation.
2004 was a special year for us, as it was in this year that we, the second generation, took over the business. Together we (Siegfried, Gerda, Paula, Günther and Andreas) modernised and expanded the Sonnenhof to meet the growing demand from our guests. New rooms, extended leisure facilities and continuous work to improve sustainability have characterised our path ever since.
As early as 2005, we switched to an environmentally friendly wood chip heating system, followed by the installation of a photovoltaic system in 2010, with which we cover a large part of our energy requirements. In 2012, we renovated the sanitary facilities to offer our guests even more comfort. In 2018, we redesigned the sports field with a bouldering wall, slackline and a ground trampoline, and in 2021 we remodelled the swimming pool so that our guests can enjoy an even more pleasant swimming experience.
The next and thus third generation with Thomas, Johannes and Magdalena are also actively supporting us to offer our group tours and self-catering guests a pleasant experience.
